Heading into our 75th year, we are celebrating our proud history and becoming an Independent Public School. As an IPS school, and governed by the School Board, our community has greater autonomy and flexibility for decisions to be made locally and in response to our specific needs.
Dalkeith Primary School is a dynamic learning community where stakeholders work collaboratively through a shared vision, to assist children to exceed their potential.
With an increasingly diverse student population, an extended family environment is fostered where emphasis is placed upon open and effective communication, respectful attitudes and success for everyone.
Dalkeith Primary School provides a supportive environment in which the teaching and learning process thrives. A clear vision, explicit teaching and shared leadership guide the education process. The range of whole school learning programs targets the needs of students, inclusive of abilities and interests. A focus on cooperative learning further develops responsible and resilient learners and promotes a culture of leadership and a sense of belonging.
2012 brings new challenges and improvements. A significant development is the relocation of Pre-primary students onto the school site. This has been an outstanding success and has enabled whole school curriculum planning to be seamless with specialist teachers providing quality learning programs from Pre-primary to year 7.
Increased enrolments and a specific focus on Early Childhood Education has seen the establishment of an Early Childhood Professional Learning Community, where team members meet to collaboratively program, plan, assess and act.
Dalkeith Primary School enjoyed highly successful year in 2011 in terms of growth, pedagogical change and academic results. The school community celebrated individual, group and team successes in academic, musical, artistic and sporting fields. The 2011 NAPLAN results demonstrated school improvement strategies are effective and years 3, 5 and 7 cohorts performed well above national standards and other local schools. Two students, in science year 4 and English 7 were awarded medals for the ICAS competition for achieving the top score in Australasia.
Our success is built on the solid foundations and contributions of students, parents and staff, guided by the School Board. Our vibrant school community is vital to our ongoing development as an exemplary public school.
